Holy Ground

A Chapel was built in 1840 and was replaced by the present Church in 1888. A strong and simple architectural form executed in local limestone and corrugated iron. It is sited on a prominent corner and has become an integral part of the townscape in the Fremantle conservation area.

The Wesley Church is constructed in a Gothic revival style to a T-shaped plan with a nave running on an approximately north-south axis and, at the northern end, transepts with a large niche housing the organ behind the altar. The nave is flanked by aisles each side under lean-to roofs with porthole clerestory windows over.
